iCal not syncing properly to ipod Touch ...

I recently got a first generation ipod touch and I synced everything to it - music, videos, address book, ical, etc. The first sync went great! everything showed up fine. Then I tried to add events to ical on the ipod and I added new events on my macbook. When I synced it the next time, it was a disaster! some entries were not copied over from my mac to my ipod, some were copied over twice, some on the wrong day, and the new entries on my ipod touch were not copied over at all.

I then tried the 'erase and restore ical on ipod' feature in itunes, and it did not change anything. I have not been able to make it work since!

If you have any idea how to solve this, please let me know!

Mackbook running leopard 10.5.5
iTunes v. 8.0.2
iPod Touch 1st gen with v. 2.2
