Wi-Fi on iPod Touch unable to join the ...

I'll throw in my two cents on this issue. I have a new iPod Touch that refuses to connect to my home wi-fi network unless I turn off all wireless security at my router, which is a D-Link DI-524 b/g. The iPod has connected just fine with no security enabled, but as soon as I enable WEP (either 64-bit or 128-bit -- can't use WPA/WPA2 due to limitations on some of my PCs' wireless adapters), no go. I enter the SSID, select WEP and enter the password correctly, but the iPod displays the message "Unable to join the network" with a "dismiss" button. Just in case, I updated to software on the iPod to ver 3.1.1 but I still have the same issue. I have also reset the iPod to no avail. Obviously, I do not want to run my wireless network with no security, which means the iPod's functionality is greatly reduced unless I can somehow get it to connect. Any other ideas?
