Internet Problems ...

I had the iPod touch 2nd gen for 4 months and decided to download the new software update (3.1.1) and have had problems since downloading the update with connecting to the internet.

My iPod lists my network in the internet settings and says that I am connected, but when I go on safari, youtube, or apps that need a Wi-Fi connection they do not work. Safari says can't connect invalid arguement and the others just don't load.
I tried my iPod at college to see if I had problems with my network but the same thing happened at college.

I rang apple and they gave me 4 steps to try
1. Reset network settings.
2. Enter I.P address manually on static mode.
3. Reset network settings with router off
4. Restore iPod to factory settings.

None of these have worked.

I have been given a replacement iPod but the same problem has occured.

Does anybody know what could be wrong?
