After syncing the iPod with iTunes, Itunes correctly shows which podcasts were played (partially or completely ).
If you have the option set in iTunes to only keep unplayed episiodes, shouldn't iTunes delete all played podcasts ( in Podcasts tab ) ?.
This works on the iPod, played podcasts no longer appear after a sync.
However in iTunes most podcasts that were played still appear in the list ( they are not deleted ),
During my last sync, only 1 of 9 played podcasts was deleted from iTunes Podcasts tab.
