iPod Touch Channel Balance, what's ...

I recently had to swap my 16gb ipod touch for a new one from an Apple store as the left channel developed a fault about 6-8 months after purchase and was crackling and dropping out. They gave me a new one immediately.

I got the new one home and didn't have a chance to use it for a few days. On first use I noticed that this time something was wrong with the right channel. It's significantly quieter than the left one.

I'm extremely careful with my touch and treat it well, it's in a rubberised case and I've never dropped either. I've used the apple headphones that came with it, and a set of sennheiser headphones I bought from the Apple store.

I can't think of anything that I could have done to the second ipod to cause this, but the problem wasn't even something that started over time, it was immediate from when I first turned the ipod on.

Has anyone got any experience of this? I'm going to take this ipod back and get another replacement, but it does worry me a bit.
